“Our entire life … consists ultimately in accepting ourselves as we are.”
~Jean Anouih
Most of the struggles in our life are really struggles within ourselves, even if we don’t see it at the time. Not accepting ourselves as we are is one way we keep on struggling.
It reminds me of the word “should” we use so often: “I really should…” …be smarter, be more stylish, be funnier, be more accommodating, more assertive…etc. What it really shows is that we are not accepting ourselves as we are.
How about if we just changed it to: “If I chose to, I could…” At least we would accept ourselves for who we are and not beat ourselves up about it. And then, if we wanted to and chose to, we could make changes.
What part about yourself are you willing to accept today?
