So most of us in the Bay Area are now sheltered in place. And while many of us are luckily ok, our daily routine has most likely changed, taking us out of our comfort zone. We may be working from home, homeschooling kids, standing in longer lines at the supermarket or listening to frequent news updates.
This is a time when our Saboteurs can come out and react to these changes. Saboteurs are like our Inner Critic. They come out especially during a time of change and act out of fear. 👻
𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲:
☁️ You are acting out of fear.
☁️ You feel overwhelmed.
☁️ You focus on the negative.
☁️ You are buying 100 rolls of toilet paper.
However, we all have another resource available to us, which is our Inner Champion. Our Inner Champion is compassionate and kind, acts out of love and remains positive. 😍
𝗬𝗼𝘂r 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁:
🌞 You are doing what you can. Staying at home is the best way all of us can contribute to flatten the curve. It will be ok.
🌞 Take care of yourself first, so you have the capacity to take care of others as needed.
🌞 Stay calm and breathe. This will help others around you stay calm as well.
𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲:
🌺 Limiting how much news you watch – information is good, but you may not need hourly updates.
🌺 Reach out and talk to a friend on the phone or via video. You are not alone in this.
🌺 Choose a mantra to repeat to yourself when you start feeling stressed. For example: “Be here now.” “I will stay calm and carry on.” “I choose calm.” or “I feel grateful for_________”
🌺 Do something calming: Breathe, stretch, go for a walk, pet your dog/cat/hamster, listen to some great music, or doodle.
Sending you love and peace. Be kind to yourself and to others. We are all in this together. ❤️
